Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Trainee Manager for their Eastrand stores. You will learn overall store operations under the direction and supervision of a store manager, performing a wide range of retail operational duties under the general guidance and support of an experienced individual.

Minimum Requirements…

Essential:

1. Grade 12/ Matric
2. Minimum of 1 - 2 years’ experience in store retail management disciplines including but not limited to stock management, cash, reporting, expense control, and customer service
3. Diploma in Financial / Admin or a relevant 3-year Diploma
4. Computer literate – MS Office
5. Willing and able to work retail hours
6. Valid driver’s license
7. Own reliable transport

Job Specification…

1. Ensures the processing of items including but not limited to goods in transit, cycle counts, and physical stock to system matches, stock takes, addressing of shrinkage, and overall stock levels.
2. Ensures efficient stock flow to the sales floor.
3. Participate, assist, and support in the management of shrinkage and in the ordering of stock to maintain correct stock levels in FMCG, Health and Beauty, when required.
4. Assist with the planning, implementation, and maintenance of promotional stock displays in FMCG, Health and Beauty.
5. Assist with the adherence, implementation, and maintenance of labeling, pricing, and layout standards in FMCG, Health and Beauty.
6. Assist with goods receiving duties guided by the standard operating procedures.
7. Participate in the delivery of transaction integrity for incoming goods receipts and outgoing returns guided by the company internal control procedures.
8. Assist with reconciliation of daily ZMove Packs in accordance with Receiving policies and procedures.
9. Assist in achieving set store sales targets, including but not limited to FMCG, Health and Beauty.
10. Partner with all heads of departments to ensure targets are met.
11. Support management to ensure promotions are effectively executed.
12. Assist management to coordinate with other stores to share knowledge, plan promotional activities, or achieve goals.
13. Maintain awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives and monitoring what local competitors are doing.
14. Support management to determine all profit and sales objectives and propose strategies to maintain inventory levels and manage all work guided by store policies and procedures.
15. Propose innovative ideas to senior management to increase market share.
16. Assist in the development of regional retail strategies to raise customer pool, expand store traffic, and optimize profitability in FMCG, Health and Beauty.
17. Assist with daily cash-ups and review of the reconciliation packs and paperwork.
18. Assist with the efficient scheduling of the point-of-sale area to maintain efficient service standards.
19. Assist with monitoring of store expenses as well as stock adjustments to the correct GL accounts.
20. Support in analyzing and interpreting Financial Income statements.
21. Assist in ensuring all expense (ordering and monitoring) related items are controlled and managed within budget.
22. Support management with transaction integrity throughout the store guided by company internal control procedures.
23. Support in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of branch transactions.
24. Support management to improve cashier service levels and cashier productivity rates.
25. Assist with controlling overtime and casual spend.
26. Assist with sign-off and investigation of run ends daily.
27. Support management to disseminate, collate, and report all relevant information between store and department managers.
28. Assist in any internal or external audits conducted in the store.
29. Assist with addressing customer complaints promptly and regulate both complaints and compliments.
30. Assist with ensuring that customer request system is operational and actioned daily.
31. Encourage and report on new loyalty signups continuously.
32. Assist with ensuring accurate manual processing of points to customer accounts.
33. Assist with providing customers with feedback regarding queries and complaints.
34. Assist with people administration duties, including but not limited to leave management, scheduling, and staff file management.
35. Facilitate human resource processes, submissions, and documentation for the store in compliance with standard operating procedures.
36. Account for the execution and transaction on the workforce management system (KRONOS) within the store. This includes but is not limited to master data and transactional management.
37. Assist the store with the delivery of HR policies and system implementations.
38. Support management to ensure employees receive training where necessary and collate feedback from employees on training sessions attended.
39. Participate and engage in meetings, workshops, and other learning opportunities.
40. Assist managers in completing assigned tasks for on-the-job learning purposes.
41. Completion of all required learning programs and assessments to be deemed competent.
42. Ensure Portfolio of Evidence is filed and kept up to date and ensure sign-off with Regional Admin Manager.
43. Housekeeping must be in accordance with Dis-Chem standards and ensure store cleanliness.
44. Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
45. Adhere to Dis-Chem Health and Safety Regulations.
46. Adhere to the Dis-Chem uniform and personal appearance policy.
