Human Resource and Compliance Officer for Short-Term Insurance Brokerage
Seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resource & Compliance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing HR functions, ensuring efficient payroll processing, and leveraging Sage VIP for payroll operations.
As a Compliance Officer, you will be required to implement, maintain, and manage the regulatory requirements within the business function in an efficient, relevant, and sustainable manner.
This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of HR best practices, and hands-on experience with Sage VIP.
Human Resources Management
- Implement and manage HR policies and procedures in compliance with company standards and legal requirements.
- Maintain employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Facilitate employee training and development programs.
- Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries, providing guidance and resolving issues.
- Support performance management initiatives, including appraisals and development plans.
- Promote a positive workplace culture, ensuring employee engagement and well-being.
- Organise and maintain personnel records.
- Prepare HR documents, like employment contracts and new hire guides.
- Advise on or revise company policies.
Payroll Administration
- Accurately manage payroll processing, ensuring timely and compliant payments to employees.
- Providing and consolidating relevant employee information (clocking, leaves of absence, sick days).
- Handle statutory deductions, tax filings, and compliance with local labour laws.
- Prepare and submit EMP201, EMP501, and other statutory returns online.
- Manage payroll-related queries.
Compliance Officer
- Monitoring business transactions and processes to various pieces of legislation.
- FICA and FAIS monitoring and reporting.
- Provide advice to staff on compliance issues which arise on a day-to-day basis.
- Assess company operations to determine compliance risk.
- Ensure all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes.
- Developing and managing a risk management and compliance program.
- Advise management on the company's compliance with laws and regulations.
- Conducting fit and proper reviews in relation to Continuous Professional Development, class of business training, and product-specific training.
- Keeping all relevant administrative records up to date.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Required:
- Matric certificate (mandatory).
- Industry relevant bachelor's degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an HR role with payroll responsibilities.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a compliance role.
- Knowledge of the Financial Services.
- Knowledge of Fiduciary Services Industry.
- Proficiency in Sage VIP Payroll.
- Strong knowledge of Labor laws and payroll regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
