Purpose of the Job

The Retail Store Manager is responsible for ensuring operational efficiencies and daily store operations to meet profitability and sales targets while maintaining quality standards, customer satisfaction, and compliance with company policies and regulations.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 (Minimum)
  • Diploma in Business Administration, Sales, or Marketing

Experience

  • 5 years of experience in Retail Sales and/or Marketing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Key Responsibilities & Performance Areas

1. Retail Store Management

  • Develops and implements strategic plans to ensure store profitability and efficient daily operations.
  • Identifies current and future customer needs, building strong relationships with potential and existing clients.
  • Ensures availability of merchandise and services, managing inventory and supplier contracts.
  • Develops pricing strategies based on market trends, sales promotions, and financial analysis.
  • Analyzes financial and operational reports to improve profitability.
  • Maintains a secure and well-organized store environment for employees and customers.
  • Ensures compliance with legal requirements, maintaining the store's stability and reputation.
  • Manages staff scheduling and task assignments to meet operational requirements.

2.Compliance

  • Operates within company policies and procedures to ensure integrity in all operations.
  • Identifies and reports risks and discrepancies to management.
  • Maintains a risk register and ensures compliance with company policies.
  • Ensures adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, creating a safe work environment.
  • Enforces legal and procedural compliance among all store employees.

3. Customer Service Management

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers, ensuring high service standards.
  • Represents the company in meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Identifies and resolves customer-related challenges with integrity and professionalism.
  • Provides regular reports to management on customer engagement and service quality.

4. Staff Supervision

  • Ensures that all employees have signed performance agreements.
  • Conducts quarterly performance appraisals to monitor employee progress.
  • Works with HR to develop staff training and development plans.
  • Addresses employee relations matters fairly and professionally.
  • Encourages continuous learning and professional growth for employees.

5. Cost & Financial Control

  • Assists in the budget preparation process.
  • Promotes cost-effective and transparent resource utilization.
  • Monitors and controls expenditures within budgetary limits, reporting any deviations.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings and implements strategies for financial efficiency.
