Position Title
Learning and Development Specialist
Location
SME/MSP (Smelter/Mineral Separation Plant)
Position Overview
The Engineering Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for the development of apprentices and engineering employees. This role involves coordinating and executing training requirements within the training cycle, including training needs analysis, design and development, delivery or facilitation, practical assessments, impact analysis, and quality assurance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 / N3 Engineering Certificate
- Degree/ National Diploma in relevant Technical Qualification (Engineering) (Mandatory)
- Artisan Trade (Mandatory)
- ETDP NQF Level 5 Qualification (Mandatory)
- Assessor Certificate (Mandatory)
- Driver’s license.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (SAP, SuccessFactors, etc.).
- 5-10 years of relevant experience within the mining industry.
- 5 years’ experience as a Supervisor or in a leadership role.
Job related Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
- Ability to facilitate a wide range of training topics and programs
- Knowledge of various approaches to competency and skills transfer
- Competence in computer-based learning and assessment
- Drive for results, strong interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure

- Good communication skills and effective verbal communication

Job Responsibilities
- Conduct training needs analysis through engagement with various stakeholders
- Develop training plans and schedule training interventions in-line with operational requirements
- Develop training systems, templates and learning material in-line with learning and development procedures
- Facilitate operational, leadership, and soft skills training interventions in accordance with ETQA requirements
- Liaise with line management regarding training needs and report on learner progress
- Report on all skills development activities within area of responsibilities
- Provide relevant and up to date reports to line management on a continuous basis
- Maintain accurate skills matrix, matrix of training records, assessor and moderator logs
- Ensure 100% training compliance for all operational licenses in terms of the MH&SA
- Design qualifications and apply for relevant scope extensions with the relevant SETA
- Follow up on training non-conformances and ensure training occurs according to legislated requirements
- Represent Learning and Development during incident/accident investigations, and implement/corrective measures into the training material
- Review and update all training related procedures, assessments, training manuals, training material and forms
- Participate in budget planning and ensure that the spend is aligned to the budget planned
