Job DescriptionInspect work areas to ensure compliance with all relevant contract, National, and site HSE Regulations. Monitor work activities and record relevant information. Audit sub-contractor compliance with the HSE plan and applicable legislative requirements and report to relevant stakeholders as required – Project Team, GW Africa, Client.
Position Responsibilities- Discharge his duties as the CR8(5) on the Wind Farm.
- Implement and manage Health and Safety systems and plans; always ensure legal compliance with OHS Act and MHS Act, ISO health and safety standards, customer requirements, as well as any other applicable legislation.
- Conduct all internal H&S induction training for all employees and contractors at the Project (Induction, HIRA, Correct use of PPE, Safe behavior and awareness).
- Assist in compiling risk assessments (Baseline, Issue, and continuous).
- Ensure that daily risk assessments are completed correctly, assessed, and distributed.
- Manage safety performance of subcontractors; ensure no sub-contractor is permitted to work on site without being in possession of a safety file.
- Compile and update the health and safety file.
- Ensure all employees/visitors are inducted prior to being permitted to enter or work on site.
- Ensure that all appointments are done as per the site SHE organogram and that the communication of responsibilities to the appointee is explained.
- Prepare the site emergency evacuation plan and ensure all supervisors and contractors are supplied with a copy of the plan.
- Assist and support the environmental officer when not on site.
- Preserve blue skies and white clouds for the future.
- Ensure that all monthly and weekly applicable inspections are done.
- Revise the HSE Plan when applicable and required.
- Conduct accident/incident investigations and reporting.
Internal Working Relationship- The HSE Officer shall function as part of the Project Site Team.
External Working Relationship- Liaise with Goldwind HO, contractors, external suppliers, and the client representatives.
Qualifications- Matric.
- Diploma or certificate in HSE.
- SACPMP Registration.
Work Experience- More than two years of construction safety-related experience.
Basic Skill and Knowledge- Extremely organized and efficient individual.
- Work well under pressure and have impressive stress management skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proclivity for catching errors and enacting appropriate changes.
- Excellent analytical ability.
