Key Responsibilities
Installation & Configuration:
- Install and configure security systems including CCTV cameras, access control systems, alarm systems, and other security technology.
- Conduct site surveys to determine client requirements and propose optimal solutions.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine maintenance checks on security equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues or malfunctions with security hardware or software.
- Respond to emergency service requests for repair and resolve issues promptly to ensure minimal downtime.
System Upgrades & Integration
- Upgrade existing security systems to incorporate new technologies and enhance system performance.
- Integrate different security systems for seamless operation and improved functionality.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of installations, system configurations, and maintenance activities.
- Provide clients with regular updates on system performance and suggest improvements.
Training & Mentoring
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior technicians and assist in their professional development.
- Conduct training sessions for staff or clients on the operation and maintenance of security systems.
Client Interaction
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the installation and service process.
- Provide technical support to clients, explaining complex security issues in an understandable manner.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all installations and maintenance activities comply with relevant security standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in security technologies.

Qualifications and Skills:
- PSIRA Grade A
- Impro Level 1 – 3 (Wish)
- Honeywell Level 1 & 2 (Wish)
- DCS Neo Basic Wiring (Wish)
- DSC Neo Programming (Wish)
- Ajax Training (Wish)
- Drivers Licence
- Matric
- Firearm Competency HG/SG/SLR
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience as a security technician or in a similar role involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of security systems.
Technical Skills
- In-depth knowledge of security technologies such as CCTV, access control systems, alarm systems, intercom systems, and experience with networked systems and IP cameras.
Troubleshooting
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
Communication Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical personnel.
Computer Literacy
- Basic understanding of computer systems, networking, and relevant software programs used for security systems.
Certifications (Desirable)
- Relevant certifications in security systems (e.g., CCTV, access control, alarm systems).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in various environments, including at heights, in confined spaces, or outdoors. Must be comfortable carrying and handling heavy equipment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
