As a Process Safety Technologist, you will be responsible for delivering on-site process safety initiatives and providing expert technical support of site operations, maintenance, and engineering, aiming to improve overall results in terms of process safety, reliability, and costs, to drive improvements in process safety, operational reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
As Process Safety Technologist you will work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring a high standard of safety compliance, hazard identification, and risk management across all aspects of plant operations.
Job Responsibilities:
Enhance Site HSE Performance in Management of Change (MOC):
- HEMP: Assume the role of the site Management of Change (MOC) Focal Point (FP), ensuring effective implementation of the MOC process across the site.
- HEMP: Perform assurance activities to verify compliance with MOC requirements through regular assessments, reviews, audits, and utilize observations to drive continuous improvement.
Provide Process Safety Support to Relevant Production Units (PUs) and Other Disciplines in HRC:
- Ensure thorough review of all plant changes and technical projects from a process engineering and process safety perspective. This includes determining the level and type of risk analysis required for any proposed change or project and facilitating the hazard screening review process.
- Provide independent advice to Unit Managers on the adequacy of proposed barriers to manage identified process safety risks.
- Support the assurance of compliance and consistency for plant changes and technical projects with applicable site standards and guidelines.
Improve Site HSE Performance through the Execution of the Hazards and Effects Management Process (HEMP):
- Support the HEMP Focal Point in executing the HEMP process on-site.
- Assist in the execution of plant safety reviews, including walkabouts, Process Safety Assessments, Reactive Hazard Assessments, etc., and ensure follow-up on resulting actions.
Ensure Effective Implementation and Assurance of the Process Safety 9 Fundamentals (PS9F):
- Act as the site custodian for PS9F, ensuring widespread awareness and knowledge across the site.
- Collaborate with relevant process focal points to ensure effective implementation of PS9F.
- Conduct regular assurance activities on PS9F implementation, using observations to drive continuous improvement.
- Track and follow up on PS9F violations and observations, ensuring appropriate investigations and learning occur.
Support Site Execution of Learning from Incidents (LFI) Process:
- Assist the site LFI Focal Point and LFI committee by providing technical input on the relevance of incident learnings and supporting the resolution of recommendations.
Job Requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
- BSc or higher degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- In-depth academic knowledge of chemical engineering and process technology.
Professional Experience:
- Experienced chemical engineer or process safety practitioner with a solid background in process safety management.
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
- Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in process safety and hazard management.
- Possess relevant process safety competencies, including risk assessment, hazard identification, and safety analysis methodologies.
