Job summary
A leading mining company in Limpopo is seeking a Security Supervisor. The ideal candidate should have 5-10 years of experience with SAPS and strong skills in security management. Responsibilities include risk analysis, advising management on security practices, and developing training programs. South African citizens and permanent residents are preferred for this position, with applications closing on 05 November 2025.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years’ experience with SAPS.
- 5-10 years’ experience in Mining security will be advantageous.
- Good Human Relations.
Responsibilities
- Updating security technology and industry trends for safety.
- Performing annual risk analysis related to various threats.
- Providing advice on security policies and practices.
- Developing and implementing security coordinator programs.
- Protecting company assets and people.
- Assuring safety and protection against various threats.
- Maintaining and updating a property loss and prevention program.
- Evaluating incidents and determining courses of action.
- Monitoring security-related processing for cleared staff.
Skills
IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future.”
- Grade 12
- NQF level 6 Diploma in Policing/Risk and Security Management
- Grade A Security Course with PSIRA Registration
- 5-10 years’ experience with SAPS
- 5-10 years’ experience in Mining security will be advantageous
- Security managers must be perceptive, communicate well with others and have the ability to lead and manage workers.
- Good Human Relations
- Updating the various security technology and complex industry trends for safety.
- Performing and analysing the annual risk analysis for the country, related to crime, terrorism, workplace violence, threats from natural and manmade disasters.
- Providing proper advice and counselling to line management on various security policies and practices.
- Developing and implementing the security coordinator programs and measures for proper training and guidance of the coordinators.
- Protecting a company's assets and people from invasion and harm.
- Perform services to assure the safety and protection of company property and personnel against injury or molestation, harassment or intimidation and loss or damage from any preventable cause including fire, theft, embezzlement, damage or destruction, trespass, espionage, or sabotage.
- Maintain and update a property loss and prevention program.
- Evaluate incidents and determine course of action.
- Discover source of security breach.
- Patrol building and ward off intruders.
- Supervise parking procedures.
- Monitor and support security-related processing for cleared staff.
