Role Purpose
The Security Manager will take the lead on a key project with a global client. They will be responsible for the day to day administrative and operational delivery of the project which involves managing a well-trained team of armed personnel and a fleet of vehicles in a fully compliant professional manner, ensuring our client personnel remain safe and secure at all times.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Effective rostering of security personnel.
- Monthly payroll reconciliation.
- Quarterly performance assessment and feedback session with client.
- Routine security surveys and reporting.
- Daily fleet management and inspections.
- Ensuring continued relationship and involvement with local law enforcement.
- Ensuring compliance with Control Risks policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local industry best practise.
- Complete and maintain firearms training and certification in accordance with local labour law and the requirements of this contract.
- Ad hoc duties as requested by client.
- Maintenance of security infrastructure.
- Scheduling and facilitating annual base line training for security personal.
Knowledge and Experience
Experience with risk management including problem identification and problem solving would be highly recommended. On a daily basis, the Security Manager shall analyse the operational security environment throughout the region, country and the city and work closely with CR and the Client to ensure Post’s security posture and countermeasures are commensurate with the overall threat to personnel. In addition, the Security Manager shall meet the following qualifications and to perform supervisory duties that include:
- Be a citizen of the Republic of South Africa.
- Clear criminal record with no pending prosecution.
- Advanced English speaking/reading skill level. Additional local languages an added advantage.
- Able to use a computer including all common office management tools (e.g. Microsoft Office).
- Experience with multiple levels of communication between various levels of management.
- Experience managing security operational teams, EPO’s, security personnel or local guard force management experience.
- Be an expert in all areas of physical security and access control.
- Must understand operational methods of all guard force units and zones for response and maintain a professional demeanour under highly stressful circumstances.
- Be experienced in basic communications and radio use/procedures.
- Be able to maintain and manage communication between all parties.
- Provide risk management planning and performing qualitative risk analysis.
- Be able to define, sequence and estimate activities and resources.
- Experience with acquiring, developing, and managing project teams.
- Hold a current driver’s license.
- Able to do effective rostering of personnel.
- Adherence to deadlines and timely submission of monthly reports, and payroll is expected.
- Fleet management experience.
- Experienced in residential and commercial security surveys.
- Be willing to travel with client when required to.
- Conflict / handling resolution skills.
Qualifications and Specialist Skills
The Security Manager shall have a minimum of 10 years police, military, security, or local guard force management experience with a minimum of five years of work experience being at supervisory or command levels. The Security Manager shall possess intimate knowledge of the local security environments and have familiarity of recent criminal trends.
Required qualifications:
- Grade A PSIRA certification.
- Fire safety, First Aid, and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) certifications
- Business firearm competency.
- Technical familiarity with security systems (CCTV, access control, perimeter detection).
Additional qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Security/Risk Management, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or related field.
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP).

- Professional engagement with C-Suite executives: Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with senior leadership by establishing trust and credibility through professionalism, discretion, and value-driven interactions.
- Cultural etiquette: Ability to understand, respect, and effectively work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, adjusting behaviour and communication styles to suit different environments.
