The Senior Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple retail store builds, ensuring the highest quality and client satisfaction in a fast-paced and highly pressured environment.
This role is pivotal in managing complex projects, training junior project managers, and ensuring financial and timeline accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Initiation: Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and milestones for each retail store project. Prepare and present a full technical drawing pack, incorporating all service and design specifications. Define project scopes, budgets, and deliverables in collaboration with clients and internal teams.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between clients, landlords, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure clear communication and regular updates on project progress to clients. Address and resolve any client concerns promptly to maintain high satisfaction levels.
- Subcontractor & Professional Coordination: Appoint and manage all third-party professionals and subcontractors, including but not limited to fire engineers, HVAC specialists, electricians, plumbers, and flooring contractors. Oversee subcontractor deliverables to ensure compliance with quality standards and timelines.
- In-House Production Oversight: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure timely production and delivery of all fixtures, fittings, partitions, walls, and other shopfitting elements. Monitor progress and resolve any issues to ensure alignment with overall project plans.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and oversee junior project managers, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and performance. Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining oversight of multiple concurrent projects.
- Financial Management: Prepare and maintain project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency. Approve payments to third-party contractors and ensure accurate financial reporting for each project. Conduct budget reconciliation and present a final budget at project completion.
- Project Execution & Delivery: Manage the entire store build process, from Beneficial Occupation (BO) to final handover to the client. Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality standards, within budget, and on schedule. Conduct final inspections and secure client sign-off on project completion.
Qualifications & Experience
A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, specifically in retail store construction and shopfitting. Proven ability to manage multiple high-pressure projects simultaneously. Extensive knowledge of subcontractor coordination and retail store service requirements, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, signage, and security systems. Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with experience in training and managing junior project managers. Excellent client relationship management and communication skills. Proficiency in project management software and tools. Bachelor's degree in project management, construction management, or a related field preferred.
