About the Role

Our client, a thriving secondary school in Lancashire, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Headteacher to join their leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious leader to make a significant impact on the strategic direction of the school, supporting the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in ensuring outstanding outcomes for all students.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Headteacher in developing and implementing the school’s vision, values, and strategic plan.
• Lead on specific areas of whole-school improvement, such as curriculum development, pastoral care, behaviour management, or teaching and learning, depending on experience and expertise.
• Contribute to the effective management and development of teaching staff, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing interventions where necessary to ensure high achievement and attainment.
• Foster a positive school culture that promotes high expectations, inclusion, and student well-being.
• Support the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies, ensuring a safe learning environment for all students.
• Engage with parents, carers, and the wider community to strengthen relationships and promote the school’s values.
• Lead and manage whole-school events, assemblies, and key initiatives.
• Deputise for the Deputy Headteacher or Headteacher as required.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant experience in secondary education.
• Proven leadership experience at middle or senior management level.
• A strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and teaching and learning strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
• A commitment to raising student achievement and promoting a culture of high expectations.
• Experience in implementing whole-school initiatives that have led to measurable improvements.
• A deep understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to student welfare.

Desirable:

• NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership) or equivalent leadership training.
• Experience of working in a diverse and inclusive school setting.
• A track record of delivering professional development for staff.
• Ability to lead on specific areas such as SEND, behaviour, or data analysis.
