About the Role
Our client, a thriving secondary school in Lancashire, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Headteacher to join their leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious leader to make a significant impact on the strategic direction of the school, supporting the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in ensuring outstanding outcomes for all students.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Headteacher in developing and implementing the school’s vision, values, and strategic plan.
Lead on specific areas of whole-school improvement, such as curriculum development, pastoral care, behaviour management, or teaching and learning, depending on experience and expertise.
Contribute to the effective management and development of teaching staff, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing interventions where necessary to ensure high achievement and attainment.
Foster a positive school culture that promotes high expectations, inclusion, and student well-being.
Support the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies, ensuring a safe learning environment for all students.
Engage with parents, carers, and the wider community to strengthen relationships and promote the school’s values.
Lead and manage whole-school events, assemblies, and key initiatives.
Deputise for the Deputy Headteacher or Headteacher as required.
Person Specification
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant experience in secondary education.
Proven leadership experience at middle or senior management level.
A strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and teaching and learning strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
A commitment to raising student achievement and promoting a culture of high expectations.
Experience in implementing whole-school initiatives that have led to measurable improvements.
A deep understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to student welfare.
Desirable:
NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership) or equivalent leadership training.
Experience of working in a diverse and inclusive school setting.
A track record of delivering professional development for staff.
Ability to lead on specific areas such as SEND, behaviour, or data analysis.
