We’re seeking a driven and dynamic Founding Software Engineer to join us in person. Candidates from all over Canada/US are encouraged to apply; this role requires being in person for 3 months (with relocation assistance provided if necessary), with the option of it being remote after spending 4-6 months with the team in person. You’ll be working towards ensuring the quality of our codebase, coding new features, and resolving customer issues -- 70% of your time will go towards heads-down coding and 30% towards talking to customers and fixing their issues. This role requires technical excellence, strong communication skills, and a customer-first mindset.

1. Writing code.
2. Maintaining and improving code quality, ensuring robust and efficient cloud-based solutions.
3. Engaging directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve their issues effectively, including jumping on calls when needed.
4. Collaborating closely with the CTO and business operations teams to align technical solutions with business needs.

1. Extensive experience with cloud platforms (we use GCP).
2. Advanced skills in SQL and query optimization, caching databases, and building stable, large-scale applications and databases.
3. Advanced backend engineering skills.
4. Strong problem-solving abilities, with expertise in diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
5. Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex solutions for diverse audiences.
6. Comfortable engaging with customers directly, including live troubleshooting sessions.
7. A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing web applications and scalable systems.
8. Open to exceptions if we find the right fit.
