Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement plans for maintaining and improving the gardens and green spaces on our cruise ships
- Select and source plants, flowers, and other greenery that will thrive in the unique conditions of a cruise ship environment
- Monitor and maintain the health of all plants, including watering, fertilizing, and pest control
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the gardens and green spaces are integrated seamlessly into the overall ship design and operations
- Train and supervise a team of gardeners and other crew members in proper horticultural techniques
- Keep detailed records of all plants and their care, as well as budget and supply management
- Continuously seek out new and innovative ideas for enhancing the beauty and functionality of our gardens and green spaces
Qualifications:
- A degree in Horticulture or a related field
- Proven experience in horticulture, preferably in a maritime or cruise ship setting
- Extensive knowledge of plants, flowers, and gardening techniques
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Familiarity with budget and supply management
- Passion for horticulture and a creative eye for design
