THE POSITION
Keyera is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Calgary-based PMO team reporting to the Manager, Project Controls. This role will lead the development of cost estimates for major projects, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with industry standards. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in estimating, cost analysis, and project evaluation, working collaboratively with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to support strategic project decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development of Class 3 estimates for major projects, ensuring thorough cost analysis and accuracy.
- Prepare factored cost estimates and Class 4 and 5 estimates for feasibility and conceptual studies.
- Analyze and validate estimate data to ensure reliability and consistency.
- Develop and maintain Keyera’s Basis of Estimates, providing detailed documentation of methodologies.
- Collaborate with management and key stakeholders to provide strategic input on cost estimation and budgeting.
- Conduct and participate in detailed estimate reviews with engineering and construction contractors.
- Perform cost studies to evaluate and recommend economical design options.
- Review and prepare major scope change estimates, ensuring cost implications are well understood.
- Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and cost drivers impacting project estimates.
- Develop and maintain benchmarks of completed projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 10 to 15 years of cost estimating experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of estimating methodologies, cost control principles, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating tools such as Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE) or similar software.
- Experience working with engineering and construction contractors on large-scale projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
PREFERRED SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or APEGA membership are an asset.
- Experience with EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) project execution.
- Familiarity with Alberta regulatory and compliance requirements in the Oil & Gas sector.
