About the Role:
Reporting functionally to the Commercial Director or Manager, and operationally to Senior Operational Leaders, the Contracts and Commercial Specialist will play a key role in managing the contractual and commercial aspects of Graham’s Infrastructure projects.
As the Contracts and Commercial Specialist for Graham you will:
Pre-Award of Project Phase:
- Conduct prime contract reviews to identify contractual and commercial risks/opportunities for consideration in the bid and awarded project.
- Review RFQ/RFP responses for compliance and identify any deviations between the response and the awarded contract.
- Provide support during post-tender pre-contract negotiations, project planning, scheduling, staffing, cost control, and project management.
- Prepare the Prime Contract Summary document and commercial sections of the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
- Assist in the preparation and negotiation of various contracts, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and processes.
Post-Award of Project Phase:
- Act as a key liaison between work-winning and execution teams to ensure project risks and mitigation plans are well understood.
- Monitor and report on contractual compliance, scope changes, cash flow, revenue projections, cost control, and profit & loss.
- Ensure that all changes, potential changes, and notices are tracked and compliant with contractual obligations, including schedule impacts.
- Support the project team with contractual administration, negotiation, and approval of all prime contract and subtrade change orders.
- Assist in reviewing and managing subtrade buyout plans, ensuring all tracking details aligned with budget and forecasts.
- Assist in claims management, including defining contractual entitlement, substantiating claims, and negotiating settlements.
- Defend against supply chain claims, evaluating them fairly while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
- Support project teams in contract close-out, achieving formal project acceptance, and ensuring compliance with warranty obligations.
- Ensure adherence to Graham’s standards, processes, and commercial best practices.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Degree or related education in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business or Law.
- 3+ years of experience in commercial management, preferably in the construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction contract administration, purchasing, finance, estimating, and risk management.
- Experience with contract negotiation, resolution of deficiencies, and claims management.
- Understanding of contract law and experience working with various contract types and forms.
- Ability to draft and interpret legal language.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
