S.i. Systems enterprise public health client is seeking an Onsite - Intermediate / Senior Healthcare End Use Device Requirements and Implementation Lead for Royal Columbian Hospital.
The role is titled “End Use Device Requirements and Implementation Lead.” This hands-on position focuses on determining and specifying to the Builder, through drawings and specifications, the mix of end use devices and supporting the power, data, placement, and mounting requirements to meet the clients' and Redevelopment needs. This multifaceted requirement matrix must be continuously managed throughout the Builder construction phase while this role ensures construction is compliant with the design. Finally, this role leads the procurement, staging, setup/software configuration, network connection, and testing of the devices in the new spaces.
ONSITE daily at Royal Columbian Hospital (some work from home but this is a hands-on role), New Westminster
Full-time hours - some days 8, some days 8+ hours
LONG TERM ENGAGEMENT - hospital redevelopment goes until 2028
Contract length will be April - October 2026 + renewals
MUST HAVE SKILLS
- 5+ years of experience working on large-scale IM/IT projects in a lead role, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Familiarity with end use devices such as:
- End Use Devices (EUD) included in this engagement encompass computer workstations (PCs, laptops, and thin clients with keyboards, bar code scanners, tap & go card readers, and monitors), printers (large network, desktop, and small label printers), Workstation on Wheels Carts, large display screens (e.g., 55 inch displays), iPads/tablets, CISCO VOIP telephone handsets (single and reception switchboard), and a variety of wall or ceiling mounting solutions.
- Experience in end-user interaction, including requirement elicitation, analysis, solution design, documentation, and tracking.
- Willingness to apply subject matter understanding to address EUD device space/infrastructure design issues, implementation coordination challenges, and hand-over to operations problems.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with Health Authority and Construction Industry Designers and Builder partners.
- Basic knowledge of EUD setup and networking.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
- Knowledge of planning or implementing informatics solutions in healthcare settings.
- Preferred: Experience with Fraser Health processes.
- Formal project management training or certification.
- Experience with Design-Build or Construction Management projects.
- Experience with healthcare redevelopment projects.
- Experience working with healthcare users.
To effectively fulfill this role, candidates should provide professional services based on their experience at intermediate to senior levels in three main skill areas: technical analyst, business analyst, and project manager.
Project responsibilities include:
- Leading and performing end-user engagement and requirements gathering to finalize EUD bill of materials and software requirements.
- Consulting on optimal EUD solutions to meet user requirements within the design.
- Building and maintaining an Excel database of all EUD equipment and software (Requirements Matrix).
- Engaging with clinical leads to gather application-specific EUD requirements.
- Leading and performing the design/verification of EUD requirements, including infrastructure requirements.
- Performing building design review and compliance tasks with Design Builder.
- Reviewing and marking up design drawing submissions, including architectural, communications, and electrical drawing packages.
- Conducting on-site compliance reviews of EUD infrastructure as construction progresses.
- Planning and procuring the EUDs, accessories, and software.
- Leading and coordinating the deployment to all departments in scope, including device testing and configuration.
- Decommissioning EUDs from vacated spaces as required.
- Supporting application testing and clinical transition activities.
- Providing support and issue resolution along with production turnover to the operational department.
- Creating, maintaining, and monitoring budget and cost center allocation.
- Developing and maintaining minimum or “light” project management deliverables (e.g., project charter, project plan, risk/issues log) appropriate to the work and project environment.
Work site:
• Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) will be the main location, with Phase 3 construction starting mid-2025 and lasting up to 5 years.
• Support may also be needed at Surrey Memorial, Burnaby Hospital, and a new hospital in Cloverdale.
