Job description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and creating detailed technical drawings for various projects. This role requires a blend of engineering design technical expertise and estimation proficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting all service and repair Request for Quotes (RFQ's) from initial enquiry to approving repair drawings.
• Estimating costs of manufacturing products including materials & man hours.
• Comparing actual hours versus estimated hours on completion of manufacturing orders.
• Assessing Pre Repair Inspection (PRI's) reports, working closely with the quality department.
• Provide technical expertise on the service and repair processes, equipment, quality requirements, inspection methods and set up's.
• Main contact for all Service & Repair technical customer enquiries.
• Manage all technical issues for incoming enquiries and PO's (Drawings, vetting PRI's and checking quotations before being sent to the customer.
• Ensure that relevant drawings and information are available for other departments to facilitate in the production/refurbishment of required parts.
• Extracting information from supplied drawing to prepare basic engineering drawings.
• Use the company's 3D design software to produce the engineering drawings.
• Able to identify and select the correct drawings for customer orders from the in-house PDM software.
• Create Part records for each manufactured part using the company database.
• Store and verify customer-supplied drawings within the companies drawing system.
• Update drawing storage and revision status as and when required in ERP and PDM systems
• Reverse engineer of existing products, using available inspection equipment.
• Provide technical and engineering design support for products in the OEL Product lines, including but not limited to bearings, seals, fuel system components and technical training in accordance with customer requirements.
• Implement process changes to increase productivity and aid in the development of new systems and processes within the engineering department.
• Any other ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Must have an in depth understanding of technical specifications and able to answer technical queries or investigate solutions unaided.
• Must be educated to HNC level or equivalent in mechanical engineering with a good engineering understanding and awareness.
• Must have a good engineering understanding and awareness, with the drive to enhance their engineering knowledge.
• Ideally competent in the use of 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks), full training will be given.
• Planning and organisational skills are also required to ensure objectives and deadlines are met.
• Excellent written and verbal skills are required.
• Must have proven team working skills.
• IT Literate; Good working knowledge of Microsoft office, and ideally with SolidWorks
