Overview of the role
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Ecommerce Trading Manager to join our team and drive online commercial performance across some of our most prominent online platforms: well.co.uk, Chemist.net, and Vet Pharmacy. As the Ecommerce Trading Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our digital trading strategy, driving revenue, improving conversion rates, and enhancing the overall customer experience.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Deliver Commercial Targets: You will own the sales, margin, and growth KPIs across multiple platforms, closely monitoring daily performance to identify risks early and take corrective action to protect revenue.
- Lead and Support the Trading Team: Line manage website leads, providing coaching, performance feedback, and clear direction. Foster a culture of collaboration and ownership within your team, ensuring that goals are aligned with the commercial plan and that delivery is achieved at pace.
- Plan and Execute Campaigns: Develop and manage trading calendars that align with seasonal peaks, supplier activities, and marketing campaigns. You will work closely with suppliers and the commercial teams to deliver funded promotions that drive sales and profitability.
- Optimise On-Site Merchandising: Manage product categories, listings, banners, and recommendations to maximise visibility, average order value (AOV), and conversion. Using tools like Algolia and on-site analytics, you will refine customer journeys to enhance search performance.
- Leverage Data to Drive Decisions: Use Google Analytics, site analytics, and trading reports to measure success, identify trends, and inform decision-making. Quickly address any underperformance through data-driven solutions and continuous testing.
- Ensure Operational Readiness: Collaborate closely with supply chain, buying, and content teams to ensure product listings are accurate, stock is available, and product launches run smoothly. You will escalate any operational blockers that could affect trading.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with marketing, product, and digital experience teams to ensure seamless customer journeys, effective campaigns, and necessary site updates. You will also provide clear trading briefs for support and UX improvements.
- Champion the Customer Experience: Ensure a consistent experience across all online platforms, in line with our brand and customer expectations. Identify and fix barriers to conversion, including broken journeys and navigation issues.
- Act as Escalation Point: Be the go-to person for trading-related decisions, balancing short-term revenue with long-term goals.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of testing, learning, and iterating on trading tactics. Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and evolving customer behaviours to uncover opportunities for growth.
What We're Looking For:

- Experience in leading teams and collaborating across functions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and market conditions, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
Why Join Us?
- You'll have the opportunity to shape the future of our online trading strategy and accelerate our ecommerce growth.
