Joining Mines Saint-Étienne means engaging in an institution where science and innovation build a more sustainable future. A school of excellence where everyone has the opportunity to reveal their full potential and contribute to meeting tomorrow's challenges.
Ranked among the best engineering schools in France and recognized worldwide, our school, a member of the Institut Mines-Télécom, trains tomorrow's talents while actively contributing to addressing major industrial, digital, and environmental challenges. With us, you join a community of 500 collaborators, 2500 students, and participate in an ambitious project: combining academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and positive societal impact.
The Institut Mines-Télécom brings together the major French engineering schools around major industrial, digital, energy, and ecological challenges. Together, we imagine and build a sustainable future by training the actors who will shape tomorrow's transitions.
As Permanent Associate Professor in Microelectronics Design, you are at the heart of our missions in education, research, and innovation, assigned to the Center for Training and Research in Microelectronics of Provence. Within this center, you combine scientific passion and societal impact.
The Microelectronics Center of Provence (CMP) of Mines Saint-Étienne stands out for its leadership in securing digital transformation. The Secure Systems and Architectures (SAS) department focuses on protecting electronic components and data against hardware attacks. Researchers develop hardware, software, and cryptographic security solutions, particularly for mobile devices. The SAS department collaborates with CEA Leti within a joint team of 32 people.
The recruitment of a Permanent Associate Professor in Microelectronics Design is part of the EU Edu4Chip project and Mines Saint-Étienne's objective to develop its training in microelectronic circuit design.
The contexts and objectives are:
- Education: Design and deliver innovative courses in microelectronics design, adapted to contemporary challenges, to train the leaders and engineers of tomorrow within the ISMIN engineering program and the Specialized Master's in Microelectronic Circuit Design. Support Mines Saint-Étienne students in their integrated circuit design projects related to the Edu4Chip project. Establish new training programs on circuit design flows (potentially implementing open-source and open-silicon approaches to enable affordable access to integrated circuit manufacturing).
- Research: Conduct high-impact research in hardware security, recognized through scientific publications, and collaborate with the socio-economic world (industry, services, communities, etc.) for innovative and sustainable solutions. The expected skills focus on the SAS department's research themes related to integrated circuit design. Priority will be given to associating with work on embedded AI security, but any profile contributing to other research themes and strong skills of SAS will also be considered with great attention: hardware security design, processor design using the RISC-V instruction set, or fault injection.
- Innovation: Actively contribute to cross-disciplinary projects in a dynamic environment open to collaborations supported by public and private funds, in France and internationally.
Your ability to work in project mode and to bridge education, research, and practical application will be essential for success.
You hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Microelectronics and possess:
