This position offers a $2,500.00 hiring bonus that has a structured payout as follows if employment is active and in good standing: $500.00 at 30 days of employment, $1,000.00 at 3 months of employment, and $1,000.00 at 6 months of employment.

Position Summary:

The Mental Health Support Specialist (Teacher Counselor) assists in the developing, implementing, and monitoring of mental health treatment plans and procedures that result in improved functioning and high rates of successful program completion among youth. This position assures staff are attending to the safety, health, and well-being of youth in a trauma-informed manner and environment. The Mental Health Support Specialist (Teacher Counselor) resides with assigned youth and offers flexible hours and shifts.

Responsibilities:

1. Building positive relationships with youth.
2. Safety and well-being.
3. Group management.
4. Daily living skills/management.
5. Treatment planning and implementation.
6. Therapeutic and educational activities.
7. Professional development and training.
8. Documentation and record keeping.

Qualifications:

Clearances: State Police/FBI clearance per state regulation; Child Abuse Registry clearance; any additional background checks/clearances required by state governing bodies.

Driver's License: Valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Requires vision, speech, and hearing and a moderate to high level of physical activity including sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying as required. Must be able to meet the demands and complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).

Working Hours: 40 hour week, variable schedule based on program need.

Education:

• Bachelors or better

Experience:

• Preferred experience working with youth or families.
