Main Duties And Responsibilities Include:

Job Location: Western Cape, Bellville

The primary role of the Library Assistant is to support library learning, teaching, and research activities, particularly those related to open science, virtual reference, and user services.
Main Duties And Responsibilities Include:
- Perform library user services duties i.e. Circulation; Short loans; ILL etc.
- Perform basic cataloguing & database searches
- Provide support to research services
- Perform virtual & in-person reference services
- Collection development and maintenance
- Assist and participate in Library marketing and other projects.
Minimum Requirements (Qualification and Experience):
- A Bachelor of Library & Information Science or an equivalent library qualification
- One year’s working experience in a library, preferably academic or research setting
Required Competencies (skills, Knowledge And Behavioural Attributes):
- Experience with user services
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Good knowledge of MS 365 Office
- Knowledge of library management systems and databases
- Exposure to open science activities
