Data Analyst

Our client is seeking a Data Analyst who has a comprehensive understanding of all current processes and methodologies and acts in support of the Data Scientist. An integral part of the role is providing practical and insightful feedback to other internal stakeholders on assigned projects and data-related matters.

The Data Analyst also provides guidance to the Processing Controllers in the Data & Technology department.

Job type: Remote – must reside in Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha

1. Assist the Data Scientist with universe and sample designs changes and implementation in projects.
2. Assist with additional data investigations and analysis required within the department.
3. Assist in setting up and maintaining data verification methods and processes.
4. Assist with the development of data models and visualization techniques.
5. Assist with updating and maintaining all data measures and calculations used in the department.
6. Ensure the necessary information is available for data inspection and production process.
7. Assist with improvement of process flow.
8. Programming using SAS / SQL or program provided to work through data quickly and efficiently.
9. Ensure monthly quota is met as per production standards.
10. Monitor sample churn and follow up with Project Manager and/or Head of Research Management.
11. Extract raw data from FLM using either SAS / SQL or program provided.
12. Run data through cleaning process using program provided.
13. Manage data importing processes in coordination with the IT department.
14. Check data trends and movements using Excel and PowerPivot.
15. Based on the results of these checks, make informed decisions and manage updates in coordination with the Data Science and IT department.
16. Manage sign-off process with data science and account management.
17. Run final data checks before reporting commences.
18. Assist with report run where applicable using Excel and Power BI.
19. Monitor and follow up on timelines for assigned projects.
20. Assist with project setups where applicable.
21. Receive and delegate project specific requests from internal departments.
22. Data review and sign off.
23. Report generation and updates.

1. Business, Marketing, Statistics, Mathematics, Research Qualification.
2. 2 years or more experience in data analytics.
3. 2 years or more experience in a market research environment is preferable.
4. Excel proficiency is vital.
5. SQL, SAS, Power BI proficiency advantageous.
