Job summary
A leading global customer experience provider is looking for a Japanese‑Speaking Content Moderator to maintain a safe online environment by reviewing user‑generated content. This role requires proficiency in Japanese and English, as well as strong analytical skills. Candidates will work remotely, but must be open to occasional travel for mandatory office visits in Penang. Experience in BPO or content moderation is preferred. Location: Remote (Work From Home) – Malaysia Based
Employment Type: Full‑time
Standard working schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Candidates must be open to rotational shifts, weekend work, or public holiday coverage if required due to business or operational needs.
This position is Work From Home and open to candidates residing anywhere in Malaysia.
However, candidates must be able to travel to our Penang office (One Precinct) when required for:
- Company asset collection and distribution
- IT troubleshooting or technical issue resolution
- Mandatory business or operational requirements (if applicable)
As a Japanese‑Speaking Content Moderator, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and positive online environment by reviewing user‑generated content and ensuring compliance with platform guidelines. This role requires strong judgment, cultural awareness, and the ability to make balanced decisions in a fast‑paced digital setting.
- Review, monitor, and moderate online content in accordance with community guidelines and policies
- Investigate and resolve reports of potentially abusive or inappropriate content
- Respond to user inquiries with accuracy, empathy, and timeliness
- Ensure moderation decisions are aligned with quality standards and turnaround times
- Apply market‑specific knowledge to support culturally sensitive decision‑making
- Identify trends, elevate complex issues, and suggest workflow improvements
- Enforce platform Terms of Use consistently and objectively
- Business level of Japanese (written and spoken)
- Good command of English (minimum required proficiency level)
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification preferred
- Strong understanding of Japanese cultural and social context
- Ability to handle sensitive content professionally
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Resilient and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
- Preferred to have minimum 1 year experience in BPO, shared services, content moderation, or customer support
