At Motorola Solutions we are helping solve some of the biggest challenges around safety and physical security by developing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and products that are used to help keep people, businesses, and cities around the world safer. Avigilon, a Motorola Solutions company, designs, develops, and manufactures advanced AI, video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions that help change the way people interact with their security systems.

Our co‑ops don’t wash cars or do coffee runs. They also don’t work on side projects. Our co‑ops are treated like full team members and are given the opportunity to learn what being a developer is like in the real world. You’ll have the opportunity to learn new technologies and best practices in coding, testing and automation. You’ll learn about agile development and what it takes to release an industry leading solution that comprises of hardware, firmware, and software all produced in Vancouver.

You’ll also have a lot of fun and make a lot of friends. For the duration of our work term, you will be a member of a multi‑disciplinary engineering team responsible for the design and implementation of the next generation of Motorola’s market‑leading high‑performance video solutions products.

The base salary range for this position in British Columbia is 38,000-48,000 CAD depending on experience.

• Apply your C/C++ coding skills to solve challenging problems involving high speed data processing, image acquisition, image analytics, and networking
• Develop and continually improve algorithms and control systems to perform real‑time imaging functions such as auto‑focus, auto white balance, and iris control
• Integrate the latest imaging technology in our products to maintain our position as the provider of the highest performing, highest resolution IP surveillance cameras available
• See your effort make an impact and contribute to the growth of one of the fastest growing companies in Canada
• Build automation and scripting in languages such as Python and Make
• Verification, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of designs
• Research and specification of 3rd party SDKs and design tools

• Strong C and C++ design and programming skills for embedded applications
• Firm grasp of operating system concepts including processes, threads, mutexes, interrupt handling, and exception handling
• Solid understanding control system concepts, signal processing, and linear algebra
• Experience with C/C++ compilation and debugging tools
• Experience with scripting languages and version control systems
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience with development in a Linux environment for ARM target processors
• Knowledge of digital imaging/photography and audio/video coding
