JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Health, Safety and Wellness Manager, the Health, Safety & Wellness Compliance Auditor is responsible for providing support in all areas of health and safety. The incumbent will work alongside Area Leaders to ensure that health and safety compliance is maintained throughout CMP. Working closely with the Health, Safety and Wellness Team, the Compliance Auditor will work to minimize occupational health and safety risks by performing health and safety audits and inspections, determining and verifying the completion of corrective actions and increasing grass roots Team Member engagement in health and safety.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS / ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducting Audits
- Perform systematic health and safety audits to evaluate workplace conditions.
- Review policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Conduct site inspections to identify hazards and risks.
Evaluating Compliance
- Ensure the organization follows local, federal, and industry-specific health and safety laws.
- Assess adherence to internal health and safety policies.
- Check the effectiveness of safety training programs.
Identifying Risks and Hazards
- Identify potential risks related to equipment, processes, and workplace environments.
- Recommend corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate risks.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, risks, and compliance gaps.
- Maintain records of audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Provide recommendations for improvement and best practices.
Continuous Improvement
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
- Stay updated with the latest health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Recommend updates to policies and procedures to enhance workplace safety.
Wellness Program
- Working with the HSW team develop, implement, monitor and audit wellness initiatives.
Site Security
- Support the HSW team in site security monitoring, auditing, initiatives and continuous improvement.
Site Expansion
- Support the HSW Team in future expansion by attending meetings, workshops and updating the HSW Manager.
Enhance and promote a strong health and safety culture
- Maintain a visual presence in the plants assisting and identify workplace hazards and engaging our Team Members.
- Create and distribute health and safety information communication on a regular basis.
Support Operations with Health, Safety & Wellness Duties as Assigned
- Complete New Worker HSW Orientation as required.
- Cover vacation schedules.
- Lead projects as assigned.
- Assist fellow Health, Safety & Wellness personnel as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree/diploma in a related field and a Post-Secondary Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is an asset.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, Human Rights and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
- Knowledge and experience in auditing HSW programs and initiatives.
- Complete proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other common applications.
- Must be decisive, a team player and be able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently deal with tight deadlines, and day-to-day health and safety issues and concerns as they arise.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong persuasive written and verbal communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Cold environment.
- Noise levels may exceed 85 DbA (hearing protection is provided).
- May be required to work both shifts and an occasional weekend.
- Outside environment.
- Working in close proximity of knives.
- Working in congested and high forklift traffic areas.
Physical Requirements
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Constant weight bearing may be required while completing audits.
