Digital Editor, GQ Middle East
GQ is an editorial powerhouse, with 20 global editions and 30M social followers generating 34M unique visitors every month. In the Middle East, GQ reaches an audience of nearly TKM readers every month across our multiplatform channels. The GQ Middle East Digital Editor will be responsible for overseeing the digital editorial strategy and storytelling, with the goal of growing GQ Middle East's digital reach.
This role will be responsible for assigning and editing daily digital content. This includes news, interviews, columns, franchises, digital features and profiles, and the GQ Hype series. The Digital Editor will generate story ideas, edit and top-edit content, write headlines, help to plan rollout strategies, and coordinate with other editorial teams including talent, design/visuals, as well as the global audience development & analytics and social media teams.
The Digital Editor will manage GQ's digital content production, including but not limited to managing a digital editorial calendar, overseeing all digital content assignments, assembling a strong stable of freelance contributors, plus identifying a syndication strategy and managing digital syndication efforts. They'll report to the Head of Editorial Content and work closely with them to develop and execute an editorial strategy focused on growing daily digital readership. In partnership with the HEC, they'll be responsible for GQ.com's audience KPIs.
A perfect candidate will have a crystal clear understanding of editorial strategy, from story idea to promotional plan. They must have experience assigning digital editorial content and managing digital contributors, a keen eye for developing storytelling that differentiates GQ, a talent for shaping sharp copy, and an innate grasp of GQ's tone, voice and editorial point of view. They should be comfortable with both setting high-level and long-term editorial strategy and digging into the daily process of ideation, directing, editing, and packaging content. They should have experience using audience insights to refine their tactics, and be an expert at juggling multiple projects, managing deadlines, and advocating for creativity across the editorial organization. The role is for someone who cares deeply about GQ Middle East's point of view, the topics we cover, and is enthusiastic about contributing to an agile team.
