A dynamic development team in the payment industry is seeking a fully remote Senior Android Developer to lead the design and integration of secure, production-grade mobile payment solutions for Android-based POS terminals. The role involves building and deploying software across platforms such as NEWPOS Tech and Elanda kiosk S30, working closely with payment gateway teams, acquirer partners, and hardware vendors to ensure secure, compliant, and scalable transaction workflows within a remote-first, technically driven environment.

• Design and build modular, high-performance Android applications in Kotlin using Clean Architecture and Jetpack components.
• Lead the technical design of mobile payment and POS integration frameworks.
• Implement and optimize native integrations with device SDKs for EMV, NFC/contactless, magstripe, PSAM, printer, and barcode scanner modules.
• Develop secure and efficient native bridges for payment SDKs and vendor libraries.

• Integrate with hardware vendor SDKs (e.g., NEWPOS Tech, Elanda, Sunmi, and similar Android POS devices).
• Implement EMV Level 2/3 flows, card-present transactions, and contactless payment logic in collaboration with payment processors.
• Handle communication with peripherals via USB, RS232, Bluetooth SPP/BLE, NFC, and Ethernet interfaces.
• Support transaction lifecycle management — from initiation to settlement and reconciliation.

• Solid understanding of PCI DSS, EMV, P2PE, and SRED security best practices.
• Use TEE (Trusted Execution Environment), Android Keystore, and Secure Elements (PSAM) for key storage and encryption.
• Implement TLS 1.3 / mTLS, certificate pinning, and secure session management across all endpoints.
• Collaborate with security and compliance teams on key management, attestation, and secure provisioning of devices.
• Participate in payment certification processes and validation cycles with acquirers and processors.

• Integrate POS applications with cloud payment APIs, transaction services, and real-time messaging layers (WebSocket / MQTT).
• Implement offline-first, idempotent transaction flows with safe retries and reconciliation logic.
• Collaborate with backend teams to design secure, scalable APIs for payment and device telemetry.
• Support remote management and OTA updates through TMS or MDM systems.

• Lead by example with clean code, test automation, peer reviews, and architecture documentation.
• Mentor junior developers, contributing to a culture of security and technical excellence.
• Work cross-functionally with Product, Compliance, Security, and DevOps teams to ship reliable fintech-grade mobile systems.
• Operate effectively as part of a remote-first global team — self-directed, communicative, and accountable.

• 5+ years of professional Android development (Kotlin / Java), with 2+ years focused on payment or embedded POS systems.
• Strong experience with Android system internals, AIDL / Binder IPC, and hardware SDK integration.
• Proven expertise with secure payment SDKs, EMV flows, tokenisation, and acquirer integrations.
• In-depth understanding of cryptography, TLS/SSL, and secure key handling in Android environments.
• Solid grasp of network communication, threading, and asynchronous transaction processing.
• Experience building offline-resilient, transaction-safe mobile systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, code signing, and secure distribution pipelines.
• Comfortable working in regulated environments (PCI DSS / ISO 27001).

• Experience integrating multiple payment processors or gateways (e.g., Adyen, Worldline, Fiserv, etc.).
• Exposure to HSM / key injection workflows and terminal management systems (TMS).
• iOS experience is a definite benefit.
• Hybrid exposure and knowing when hybrid makes sense and when native is the better option.
• Hands-on work with Flutter and/or React Native using native bridges for POS hardware.
• Understanding of device attestation, secure boot, and root detection strategies.
• Experience in IoT / Edge integrations for distributed transaction devices.
• Familiarity with OTA deployments, remote device logging, and health monitoring.
