Overview
Senior IT Engineer required to join our IT team, reporting to the IT Manager. As a lead engineer, you will provide 2nd/3rd line support at Mulberry School for Girls and Mulberry University Technical College, and support and maintain multiple Trust-wide systems. You will assist the IT Manager in supporting the network infrastructure, troubleshooting complex issues, overseeing network maintenance, and contributing to the design and implementation of network projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line IT support, independently troubleshooting and resolving logged ICT issues.
- Lead in designated areas of IT Network and digital equipment, providing 3rd line support as required.
- Configure, troubleshoot and maintain Microsoft Windows Server OS (2019 & 2022); monitor system alerts to prevent downtime.
- Manage Windows Active Directory, create network shares, manage access rights, and lead Group Policy management.
- Contribute to disaster recovery planning and testing; assist in return-to-service after outages.
- Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 environment; promote use of OneDrive and SharePoint.
- Manage SCCM/MDT server and deployment of Windows OS images; distribute software and updates securely and in compliance with licensing policy.
- Lead installation, configuration and testing of hardware and network infrastructure; plan essential maintenance with IT Manager.
- Provide cover and support to Mulberry UTC IT Technician as required; deliver ICT Support Service within agreed SLAs.
- Handle helpdesk requests, ensure timely closure or escalation; provide first contact support to staff and students.
- Service, repair and rebuild ICT devices; lead device and AV installation programmes and projects.
- Advise staff and students on ICT developments to enhance learning; provide high-quality guidance on hardware and software usage.
- Collaborate with Trust senior staff to provide technical support and resolve ICT issues; manage AV provisions for events and training.
- Support reprographics function and contribute to team workload; share best practices and peer guidance within the IT team.
- Ensure compliance with school policies (e-safety, health and safety, safeguarding) and maintain accurate records for asset management and cost allocation.
- Participate in team training and development; cover for team members as required and support GDPR compliance where applicable.

Person Specification
- Qualifications: Degree or advanced IT/computing qualification or equivalent experience; English and Maths GCSE (grade C+).
- Recent relevant, certificated training (desirable).
- Extensive diagnostic and technical troubleshooting skills; strong knowledge of IT software, hardware, and operating systems for school use.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Server 2022, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Network Services.
- Extensive experience with Hyper-V, VMware ESXi; deployment systems such as SCCM, MDT, and Microsoft Intune.
- Experience administering and deploying Apple Macs using JAMF Pro (desirable).
- Minimum 2 years in 2nd/3rd line IT support within an education environment; experience leading ICT projects (desirable).
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and non-technical stakeholders; strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equal opportunities, and MSfG policies; ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to change.
Knowledge, Skills and Personal Qualities
- Diagnostic and technical troubleshooting skills; experience with a range of school-relevant software and hardware.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Server 2022, Azure, 365, Active Directory, and Network Services.
- Experience with Hyper-V, VMware ESXi, SCCM/MDT, and Intune; ITIL/FITS (desirable).
- Ability to plan, prioritise, work independently and as part of a team; ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks.
- Excellent communication with staff, students and external partners; professional and approachable demeanor.
