Title: Aerospace Part Inspector / Calibration Technician

Location: Yeovil (on site), with some travel to other sites.

Hours: Full time - 37 hours per week (finish at 12:30pm on a Friday) with options of flextime working and an excellent benefits package including private health care.

Please note this role requires UK SC Clearance. Applicants must be eligible to obtain an SC Clearance, which requires UK Nationality and a 5-year footprint in the UK.

The Role

Step into an environmentally controlled lab on an aerospace site, where you'll join a dedicated, close-knit team in a professional setting. As a vital part of the operation, you'll be responsible for inspecting both metallic and non-metallic parts while ensuring the calibration of dimensional hand tools remains flawless. This dynamic position offers a mix of inspection, First Article Inspection (FAI) generation, and tool calibration, keeping every day engaging and rewarding.

Responsibilities

1. Perform inspections of non-metallic and metallic parts using non-contact measurement techniques and general hand tools.
2. Independently generate, populate, review, and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIs) to the AS9102 standard.
3. Conduct customer-requested inspections as needed and generate inspection reports.
4. Calibrate a wide range of dimensional measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, screw and air gauging equipment, Go/NoGo gauges, and acceptance fixtures.
5. Follow established calibration and manufacturers' procedures accurately.
6. Provide product and quality support to the New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Investigation departments, assisting with new tooling and fault-finding to technical drawings.
7. Be prepared for occasional travel to complete calibration tasks required to meet customer contract obligations.

What we Need

1. Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or applicable technical training and certifications.
2. Proven experience working in an inspection role within an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
3. Demonstrated ability to produce FAIs to the AS9102 standard.
4. Competence in the use of CMM measurement techniques, vision projectors/microscopes, surface finish tools, and general hand tools is desirable.

Technical Skills/Knowledge

1. Knowledge of balloon drawing software and FAI reporting tools (desirable).
2. Proficiency in roundness, concentricity, and surface finish equipment.
3. Strong skills in MS Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
5. Understanding of ISO9001, ISO10012, or ISO17025 calibration standards.

Qualifications/Certifications Requirements

Educational/Professional

Essential

1. Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship to HNC level or applicable technical training and certifications.
2. In lieu of an apprenticeship, previous experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
3. A full UK driving license to drive company vehicles.

Desirable

1. Experience in operating a Mitutoyo CMM.
2. Understanding of Uncertainty of Measurement principles.
