A municipal government is seeking a Forestry Management Assistant to join their team in Mississauga. This role involves monitoring tree health, assisting with restoration projects, and managing public engagement activities. Applicants should have a degree in forestry or related fields and some experience. You will gain hands-on experience in urban forestry operations and ecological initiatives while working outdoors. This position offers a balanced work environment, with the opportunity for overtime and special events participation.
Kick start your career in urban forestry and natural area management with the City of Mississauga. As a Forestry Management Assistant, you’ll be on the front lines of building and protecting the city’s urban forest—working outdoors in parks, neighbourhoods and natural areas while gaining real world experience that blends field work, technology, and community engagement.
In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative team delivering city wide forestry programs. One day you could be assessing tree health or supporting restoration projects in a natural area; the next, you might be using GIS tools to inventory forestry assets, coordinating with contractors, or helping residents bring new trees into their neighbourhoods. You’ll gain hands on exposure to urban forestry operations, arboriculture practices, ecological restoration, invasive species control and public facing environmental initiatives.
