The AMA has a hybrid work environment; therefore, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work from home within Alberta but will be required to go into our Edmonton office when required.
Position Overview
Working with the Manager, Digital Design & Communications and consulting with diverse stakeholder groups, this position assists in developing the AMA’s overall digital content strategy. As the operational lead, they manage, advise and work with stakeholder groups in the creation and development of the organization’s digital products (intranet, website, apps, LMS, enewsletters, etc.), content strategy, publication processes and search/usage analytics. As the in-house expert on our digital toolsets, this role provides senior level guidance and training to the junior members of the digital team and others, as necessary. This role serves as a key connection point between the roles directly working with stakeholders and the digital products and those who set strategy and requesting/leading development of digital content and tools.
In this role you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Directly supports development of the AMA’s web strategy, content strategy, product strategy, community management policy, branding policy and epublications.
- Leading implementation of content strategy, performing and guiding work in support of the digital strategy and direction of the Manager, Digital Design & Communication.
- Acting as operational lead for Analytics, SEO and search management.
- Providing guidance and support on the creation of digital content, including writing and developing content, managing CMS systems & metadata, building content, layout, design, editing, producing and related processes in producing the AMA’s web content and digital publications.
- Leading digital content planning/member engagement sessions to determine content, tools and systems for the websites.
- Being the in-house expert on our digital publishing toolsets, this role serves as expert advisor on content strategy, community management, digital media publication, and web content management system practices and approaches.
- Overseeing training to ensure teams are properly supported and processes aligned with business need.
- Supports, guides and provides backup support for the Social Media/Digital Marketing coordinator and Web and Digital Administrator and ACTT web coordinators as needed.
- Supports or leads community management, editorial and media management (images, videos, etc.) as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in social science (ideally in a digital communications, web publishing or related field).
- Two-four years of communications experience with particular emphasis on web digital communications (websites, electronic newsletters and social media) management, planning, development, SEO and analytics.
- Web content management experience including leading projects to develop new features, content and tools. Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, eNewsletters, web analytics and Social Media Toolsets.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience of modern digital communications principles, practices and toolsets including utilizing content management systems, content strategy, UX & IA design, SEO, digital marketing, analytics and social media.
- Audio/Visual/Graphic design skills an asset.
Skills
- Ability to contribute to and operationalize web strategy and vision. Basic business analysis ability in working with staff to develop new features and tools.
- Strong writing and editing skills and experience in the digital publication space.
- Ability to confidently advise, guide and train others, inside and outside the department.
- Ability to guide, advise and informally lead coworkers, individually or in project settings. A strong customer service focus.
- Project leadership skills. Ability to lead teams, set project strategy, advise Manager, Digital Design & Communications, perform business analysis and get buy-in for web related content and toolset development.
- Critical reasoning and strategic problem-solving to support content and toolset decision making.
- Technical leadership ability to train content contributors and staff on the use of AMA digital properties (e.g., the CMS and social media accounts), online content best practices, and strategic and tactical approaches to content creation for the web and social media.
- Basic community management skills.
- Ability to manage SEO, search functionality, user analytics and other web support functions.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, coping with frequent deadlines.

The salary for this range for role is $72,462 – $94,199.
