Senior Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Clinical Educator Facilitator and Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Patient Care
This unique role combines clinical education with direct patient care responsibilities. This multifaceted role offers an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about both educating healthcare professionals and delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients. This role reports to both the Professional Practice Manager for the Clinical Education portion of their role and to the RRT Manager for the patient care portion. Time will be equally split between the two functions.
The Senior Respiratory Therapist will use adult learning principles to develop educational plans and programs in response to individual, unit or program learning needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: education, consultation, clinical leadership and research for the purposes of improving service care and delivery. The successful incumbent possesses outstanding communication and partnership skills and collaborates with managers to identify competencies relevant to job performance; and facilitates initiatives in alignment with organization, program and unit strategic priorities.
The Senior Respiratory Therapist participates and collaborates with cross functional and multidisciplinary stakeholders in the development of standards, policies and procedures to drive exceptional patient care and service delivery by critically analyzing and advocating evidence-informed practices. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
The Respiratory Therapist is an integral member of critical care and general clinical practice teams. Responsibilities include but are not limited to initiation and maintenance of adult, pediatric and neonatal mechanical ventilation (conventional and non-invasive), ABG collection, radial arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy assistance and critical care transports of patients to tertiary care centers. RRT’s are members of the cardiac arrest team, provide support to the OR’s through anaesthetic gas machine checks, and perform ECG’s. The physical demands of the job may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
