A Canadian cultural organization is seeking a Summer Library Assistant for its Edmonton office. This full-time position supports the largest independent theatre library in Canada, assisting with day-to-day operations, library materials circulation, and special projects. Ideal candidates should possess excellent computer and customer service skills, and have a keen interest in theatre and Indigenous culture. Candidates aged 18-30 with prior full-time student status are encouraged to apply before the March 27 deadline.
Theatre Alberta requires a highly motivated, detail oriented, and creative worker for the following full-time summer contract position in our Edmonton office. All applicants should be enthusiastic about theatre, enjoy dealing with people, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Only those individuals eligible to participate in federal and provincial student employment programs should apply. Special consideration will be given to applicants from the Government of Canada’s employment equity groups.
The Summer Library Assistant provides vital support to Theatre Alberta’s Library, a collection of more than 21,000 scripts and reference books, and the largest independent and fully circulating theatre library in Canada.
Major tasks and responsibilities include assisting our Librarians with the day-to-day operations of and special projects related to our Library; library material circulation to Theatre Alberta members (in person and through the postal system); assisting members in selecting materials for reading/ borrowing; managing overdue materials and associated fines; collection development, in particular researching Canadian Indigenous plays for purchase; receiving and processing new acquisitions; inventory control and maintenance; and library promotional activities and projects.
