Job Summary
The licensed Psychologist will conduct culturally competent assessments, diagnoses, and treatment to patients, and works collaboratively with interdisciplinary medical teams to determine the best course of treatment for patients. Serves as trainer to promote quality customer service and cultural competence clinic-wide. Must be able to work in a Patient Centered Medical Home model. Must facilitate partnerships between patients, physicians and health teams with focus on care coordination and integration of treatment internally and externally. Must work diligently to assure that services are accessible, continuous, comprehensive, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective. Must be committed to eliminating barriers to care that is centered on the needs and convenience of patients above all other factors.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide culturally responsive assessment, diagnoses and treatment to patients with mental health needs.
- Develop appropriate treatment method for specific patients.
- Provide crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment.
- Document therapy in accordance with policies and procedures regarding medical records; implement and adhere to policies which ensure patient confidentiality.
- Diagnose or evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals and administer programs of treatment; interview patients in clinics, hospitals, and other settings and study medical and social case histories.
- Observe patients in various situations; select, administer, and interpret intelligence, personality, or other psychological tests to diagnose disorders and formulate plans of treatment, and provide consultation to other mental health professionals with regard to test results.
- Treat psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments utilizing various psychological techniques; select appropriate treatment approach and plan frequency, intensity, and duration of individual, group, and family therapies.
- Assess patient progress and modify treatment programs accordingly; communicate with and counsel family members as appropriate.
- Maintain accuracy, completeness and timeliness with medical charts. All medical charts must be closed within 48 hours of the encounter in order to ensure high standard of care and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform other training and job-related activities mandated.
- Assist in development of departmental policy, procedures, and quality improvement activities within the clinic as directed.
- Periodically provide community mental health presentations and power point presentations on pain management, childhood mental health issues, or stress management workshops to the community or Unicare staff.
- Adhere to accreditation and compliance standards/guidelines and get yearly cultural supportive training.
- Participate in continuing education and staff meetings as required.
- Provide direct behavioral health and medical social work services to individuals, families, groups and communities, under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health.
- Provide crisis counseling as needed and outreach counseling to community settings such as schools, home visits, and other settings as assigned by the Director of Behavioral Health.
- Provide specialized counseling groups or classes for adjustment to illness, adjustment to pain, parenting classes, depression, grief, anger management, teen issues or on other topics within the scope of license and training.
- Refer clients to supportive community services and in-house medical services or support programs to supplement office treatment and counseling.
- Provider goals: sees up to twenty patients per day subject to clinic goals.
Non-Essential Functions
- As directed by the Director of Behavioral Health, perform other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.
Professional Requirements

Qualifications
- Certification/Licensure State of CA Licensed Psychologist, or eligibility for CA licensure.
- Doctorate degree in Psychology, and completion of Pre-doctoral Clinical Internship; at least one (1) year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

- Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current special education methodologies and techniques.
- Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the client.
- Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.
- Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications.
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
- Ability to assess mental status in clients and to develop individual treatment goals and plans.
- Knowledge of psychological test administration, scoring, and interpretation.
- Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records.
- Requires a comprehensive knowledge of behavioral health in outpatient settings.
- Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
- Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission.
- Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities.

- Must have reliable transportation.

- Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Records.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Pushing and pulling objects up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent wrist, hand, and finger dexterity to perform fine motor function.
- Position requires light to moderate work with 25 lb. maximum weight to lift and carry.
- Full range of body motion requires twisting body, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, listening, talking, and/or hearing, and seeing.

WORK SCHEDULE
You will generally be scheduled to work each day Monday through Friday, with starting times each day varying between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and ending time between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., as required to meet the operational needs of the company. There will be occasional Saturdays as needed.
You will need to travel to other clinic locations as needed for cross coverage support.
