Qualifications

  • Visit and counsel congregants in coordination with the Board of Deacons.

Job description

We seek an interim pastor for a friendly and active congregation. The individual would display a Christ-like spirit and a devotion for service, prayer, and worship. He/she would prepare biblical and relatable sermons for the congregation as well as work alongside the leadership as we seek to create disciples and reach out to the community.

Overview of Church and Community

First Baptist Church is located in Simcoe, in Norfolk County, with a population of approx 16,000. It serves as a hub for smaller communities in the area. The median age of the population is 50. There are two high schools and a branch of Fanshawe College. First Baptist church is actively involved in the community through its partnership with Church Out Serving, an inter-denominational organization which seeks to serve the community, especially those who are food insecure and unhoused.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Previous leadership experience
  • A Master’s Degree from a recognized seminary or college
  • Good standing with the CBOQ referred
  • Police Check
Role and Responsibilities
  • Plan weekly services, co-ordinating with music director; provide worship leadership with lay worship leaders. Includes leading monthly communion services and special services such as Good Friday and Christmas Eve.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly sermons.
  • In co-ordination with Board of Deacons, visits, encourage, and counsel congregants.
  • Support and encourage lay leadership.

  • Ability to listen actively to others and demonstrate wisdom, humility, and love.
  • Be comfortable with a diverse group of individuals.
