About Us
Fraser Valley Meats is a trusted community full-service butcher shop, known for fresh, high-quality products and excellent customer service. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced General Manager to oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure a positive shopping experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities
Store Operations:
- Oversee daily operations, including inventory management, sales, and merchandising.
- Delegate responsibilities to department supervisors (e.g., Meat, Grocery, and Front-End) for efficient workflow.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and display of meat and grocery products.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders, and minimize waste.
- Implement pricing strategies and promotional campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations.
Human Resources & Staff Management:
- Recruit, hire, train, and onboard new employees.
- Create and manage employee schedules to maintain adequate store coverage.
- Provide coaching by working alongside the team.
- Provide performance feedback and disciplinary action when necessary.
- Maintain accurate employee records, including attendance, performance evaluations, and disciplinary documentation.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment to support retention and minimize turnover.
Customer Service & Community Engagement:
- Lead by example in providing excellent customer service.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally.
- Build relationships with customers and enhance community engagement.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3-5 years retail management experience (preferably in meat or grocery stores).
- Available to work Saturdays (required).
- Managed a team of at least 20 employees.
- Systems oriented to achieve consistent performance and results.
- Knowledge of POS systems and debit machines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in HR-related functions such as scheduling, hiring, and employee management.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and inventory management.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced/high-volume environment.
- Customer-focused with a passion for quality service.
- Basic knowledge of meat cuts and grocery products is a plus.
