As a Data Engineer at Vendasta, you’ll be at the forefront of our data strategy, designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines to support our Business Intelligence (BI) and organizational goals. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, advocate for best practices, and ensure that our data architecture is robust, reliable, and ready to scale as our business grows.

1. Develop Scalable Data Solutions: Design, implement, and maintain ELT pipelines within a Kimball Architecture data warehouse, ensuring scalability and robustness against failures and data errors.
2. Support Business Intelligence: Manage historical and hierarchical data structures to ensure usability for BI teams and scalability for future growth.
3. Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with BI teams and source system owners to prioritize and deliver data solutions, extract and clean source data, and integrate it into the data warehouse.
4. Advocate for Data Integrity: Influence improvements in source data integrity and ensure proper governance, lineage tracking, and quality assurance.
5. Optimize Cloud Infrastructure: Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to optimize resource usage within a cloud environment.
6. Operate Within Agile Frameworks: Contribute to team backlogs using Agile methodologies such as Kanban or Scrum, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term technical investments.

1. 3-5+ years of experience in ETL, SQL, and cloud-based platforms like Google Cloud (BigQuery, DBT, Looker).
2. Strong understanding of Kimball data warehousing principles, including the 34 subsystems of ETL.
3. Problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve data quality issues effectively.
4. Ability to engage with BI teams and source system owners to deliver prioritized data solutions.
5. Eagerness to advocate for data integrity improvements while adhering to data mesh principles.
6. Understanding of cloud infrastructure to optimize resource management in collaboration with SRE teams.
7. Ability to balance immediate needs with long-term technical investments.

1. Familiarity with data governance frameworks and lineage tracking tools.
2. Experience working within Agile frameworks and contributing to team backlogs.
