Role Description

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team in Dubai. The successful candidate will support the accounting department by performing various tasks, including financial record keeping, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. This role is ideal for a candidate looking to start their career in accounting and gain valuable experience in a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Record Keeping:

1. Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring all transactions are properly recorded.
2. Help in reconciling accounts, including bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
3. Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Invoicing and Payments:

1. Process invoices and follow up on pending payments.
2. Assist in the preparation of payment vouchers and check payments.
3. Ensure timely and accurate payment processing.

Data Entry and Documentation:

1. Enter financial data into accounting software and maintain organized records.
2. Ensure all financial documentation is properly filed and accessible.
3. Assist in the preparation of financial documentation for audits.

Compliance and Reporting:

1. Assist in ensuring compliance with local accounting standards and regulations.
2. Support the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory filings.
3. Help in preparing financial statements and management reports.

Support Functions:

1. Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
2. Provide administrative support to the accounting team as needed.
3. Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
4. Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.
6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Knowledge of UAE VAT regulations and compliance is mandatory.
9. Must be currently in UAE.
10. Experience in UAE - minimum 1-2 years.

Preferred Skills:

1. Internship or previous experience in an accounting or finance role.
2. Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
3. Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Working Conditions:

1. Standard working hours with occasional extended hours during peak periods.
2. Primarily office-based with occasional travel within Dubai as required.
