JOB CONTENT
To perform assembly processes like fitting for manufacturing of tools and dies to achieve job specification requirements.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Tool & Die Makers as instructed in assembling the Job.
- Ensure availability of joining parts like clamps, braces, nuts, bolts, fasteners, collar, etc. at the assembly platform.
- Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment of parts & components as specified in the Work Instructions/SOP using standard measurement gauges.
- Perform fitting jobs like drilling, band sawing, pneumatic grinding, rotary grinding, tapping, sand blasting, etc., and assemble and test tools/dies and all associated parts and assemblies as per the production data sheet.
- Fit and assemble parts to repair or modify tools/dies using machine tools.
- File, shim, grind, and polish flat and contoured surfaces of assembled tools using manual files, abrasive grinding surfaces, and polishing tools & dies.
- Remove any extra material on the tools/dies using cutting tools like hacksaws, power blades, cutting torches, etc.
- Seal any potential areas of leakage and seepage which may damage the tool.
- Ensure all parts and assemblies are correctly fitted and assembled in accordance with the agreed procedures and tolerances, verified with the production supervisor.
- Inspect, feel, and measure workpieces to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet customer specifications as highlighted on the production data sheet.
- Carry out testing of the tool and/or die units to check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or subassemblies.
- Dismantle faulty tools/dies and assemblies and repair or replace defective parts.
- Remove finished workpieces from machines & place them in boxes or on racks, setting aside pieces that are defective.
- Perform basic maintenance & cleaning of assembly tools/dies & lifting tools/dies as per the instructions. Ensure that any type of impurities like grease, oil, dust, rust, etc., are removed from the assembly and fabrication tools/dies.
- Ensure proper documentation of work done in a manner well accessible every time.
- Stay abreast with market trends and maintain awareness of current design trends and influences. Research materials and component technologies to scope development opportunities.
- Observe good housekeeping practices and ensure the machine and its surroundings are kept neat & tidy.
- Follow company’s HSE guidelines in respect of all operations undertaken.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Quality, Food Safety, and Environment requirements as specified in the global QHSE Management System, with strict adherence to ISO and local regulatory authority.
- Ensure that all records and documents are up to date and have full traceability retrieval at all times, and that all processes, procedures & activities comply with ISO and management procedures.
- Perform any other job/task assigned by the Production Supervisor to accomplish department objectives.
Requirements
Education/Qualifications
ITI (Machinist / Fitter)
Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in mechanical assembling in a manufacturing setup.
Functional Skills & Specific Knowledge
- Knowledge of Mould maintenance and repair.
- Hydraulic knowledge.
- Knowledge on Machinability of different metals.
- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments & gauges.
- Knowledge of Quality systems and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
