Tradesman - Tool Die Maker

JOB CONTENT

To perform assembly processes like fitting for manufacturing of tools and dies to achieve job specification requirements.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist the Tool & Die Makers as instructed in assembling the Job.
2. Ensure availability of joining parts like clamps, braces, nuts, bolts, fasteners, collar, etc. at the assembly platform.
3. Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment of parts & components as specified in the Work Instructions/SOP using standard measurement gauges.
4. Perform fitting jobs like drilling, band sawing, pneumatic grinding, rotary grinding, tapping, sand blasting, etc., and assemble and test tools/dies and all associated parts and assemblies as per the production data sheet.
5. Fit and assemble parts to repair or modify tools/dies using machine tools.
6. File, shim, grind, and polish flat and contoured surfaces of assembled tools using manual files, abrasive grinding surfaces, and polishing tools & dies.
7. Remove any extra material on the tools/dies using cutting tools like hacksaws, power blades, cutting torches, etc.
8. Seal any potential areas of leakage and seepage which may damage the tool.
9. Ensure all parts and assemblies are correctly fitted and assembled in accordance with the agreed procedures and tolerances, verified with the production supervisor.
10. Inspect, feel, and measure workpieces to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet customer specifications as highlighted on the production data sheet.
11. Carry out testing of the tool and/or die units to check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or subassemblies.
12. Dismantle faulty tools/dies and assemblies and repair or replace defective parts.
13. Remove finished workpieces from machines & place them in boxes or on racks, setting aside pieces that are defective.
14. Perform basic maintenance & cleaning of assembly tools/dies & lifting tools/dies as per the instructions. Ensure that any type of impurities like grease, oil, dust, rust, etc., are removed from the assembly and fabrication tools/dies.
15. Ensure proper documentation of work done in a manner well accessible every time.
16. Stay abreast with market trends and maintain awareness of current design trends and influences. Research materials and component technologies to scope development opportunities.
17. Observe good housekeeping practices and ensure the machine and its surroundings are kept neat & tidy.
18. Follow company’s HSE guidelines in respect of all operations undertaken.
19. Ensure compliance with Safety, Quality, Food Safety, and Environment requirements as specified in the global QHSE Management System, with strict adherence to ISO and local regulatory authority.
20. Ensure that all records and documents are up to date and have full traceability retrieval at all times, and that all processes, procedures & activities comply with ISO and management procedures.
21. Perform any other job/task assigned by the Production Supervisor to accomplish department objectives.

Requirements

Education/Qualifications

ITI (Machinist / Fitter)

Experience

Minimum 1 year of experience in mechanical assembling in a manufacturing setup.

Functional Skills & Specific Knowledge

1. Knowledge of Mould maintenance and repair.
2. Hydraulic knowledge.
3. Knowledge on Machinability of different metals.
4. Knowledge of precision measuring instruments & gauges.
5. Knowledge of Quality systems and procedures.
6. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
