Senior Engineer ICT/SAS
Mission
To excel in delivering comprehensive design specifications and documents. Participates in design reviews and supervises the implementation, testing and commissioning of ICT/SAS-related hardware and software systems, inclusive of Security Systems, Airport Operational Systems (AOS), Special Airport Systems (SAS), and ICT.
Line and Staff Relations
The Senior Engineer ICT/SAS will report directly to the Lead Engineer ICT/SAS and may oversee contractors as required.
Internal Relations (towards ADPi Staff):
- Escalate technical or project-related issues promptly, offering well-considered recommendations for resolution that demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities.
- Maintain open lines of communication to keep relevant parties informed of project progress and developments.
- Advise on technical matters and receive instructions to align with project objectives and company policies, showing a commitment to teamwork and collective success.
- Collaborate effectively with team members by actively contributing to a cooperative work environment, sharing knowledge, and leveraging diverse skill sets to achieve business goals and successful project outcomes.
- Actively participate in meetings, contributing to the development of workgroup perspectives with a problem-solving mindset and disseminating pertinent information across the team to foster a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement.
External Relations:
- Proactively understand and analyse issues to deliver solutions within the project's scope.
- Coordinate effectively with Clients, Consultant engineers, and 3rd Party reviewers, ensuring alignment and compliance at every project stage.
- Maintain a collaborative approach with all external stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution and delivery.
- Respond promptly to external queries and concerns, deploying excellent problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues in a timely and satisfactory manner, thereby maintaining project momentum and stakeholder confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Design Projects
- Understand Project Requirements: Analyse the project scope to identify requirements, collect necessary data, and outline the deliverables for the design phase.
- Design within Standards: Develop solutions in strict accordance with relevant regulations and technical standards, aligning with organisational methods and procedures.
- Produce Design Documentation: Generate Conceptual, Preliminary, and Detailed design documents, assessments, and studies, including specifications for Security, ICT/SAS/AOS systems.
- Oversee Drafting Work: Guide and evaluate the drafting resources allocated to the project, ensuring quality and adherence to project timelines.
- Manage Documentation: Employ the approved procedures for submitting, reviewing, and controlling all project-related documentation.
- Review Design Performance: Examine design outputs to ensure they meet expected performance criteria as well as project and contractual obligations.
- Assist with Tendering: Aid in the creation of tender documentation, ensuring comprehensive and competitive submissions.
- Develop Budget Estimates: Collaborate on budget estimation processes, providing accurate financial data for project planning.
- Prepare Commercial Offers: Support developing and presenting commercial proposals to potential clients and partners.
- Report Progress: Regularly update management and project leaders on project status, promptly flagging any issues or delays.
- Resolve Technical Discrepancies: Take ownership of technical challenges, facilitating timely solutions between designers and stakeholders.
- Incorporate Lessons Learned: Participate in the analysis of past projects to extract insights and integrate them into future work to enhance business practices.
- Foster Innovation: Actively drive the design activities forward by proposing innovative solutions that enhance our competitive edge and foster technological advancement.
Supervision Projects
- Review Contractor Submissions: Scrutinize contractor designs and related documents to ensure they align with project requirements, contractual obligations, and design specifications.
- Document Control: Implement and oversee the approved processes for document submission, review, and management to uphold documentation integrity.
- Coordinate Across Trades: Facilitate collaboration between various project disciplines, including architectural, MEP, structural departments, and others, to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Manage Sub-consultants: Direct and evaluate the work of Sub-consultants, monitoring their adherence to design specifications and construction timelines.
- Engage in Coordination Meetings: Actively participate in design and construction meetings to align project efforts and address emerging issues.
- Client Meeting Representation: Represent ADPi at client meetings, effectively communicating design intentions and progress as part of the design team.
- Conduct Site Supervision: Oversee site inspectors, conduct inspections, and witness site testing and commissioning to guarantee quality and adherence to plans.
- Oversee Project Handover: Ensure that the project handover process complies with all contractual stipulations and is completed to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance: Continually supervise the quality of work at each project stage, maintaining high standards from inception to completion.
- Manage Scope Variations: Apply the project change control process to handle any deviations or alterations in the scope of work effectively.
- Approve As-Built Documentation: Verify the precision of the contractor’s As-Built documents, ensuring they accurately reflect the completed construction, and approve these documents for final submission.
- Ensure Timely, Quality Delivery: Guarantee that all project activities are executed on schedule, to the expected quality standards, and within budget, while actively minimising operational and project risks.
Profile Specifications - Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Communications Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of post-graduate experience in the airport-related industry, designing and supervising ICT/SAS/AOS solutions.
- Society of Engineers Dubai and Abu Dhabi Engineering license mandatory
- Deep understanding of the design and operational considerations for ICT/SAS/AOS systems within an airport environment.
- Extensive knowledge of international standards and best practices, including but not limited to ICAO Document 8973, Annex 17, and other relevant operational and technical guidelines.
- Excellent proficiency in the English language, both in spoken and written form, with the ability to produce clear and precise technical documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of managing teams and projects, preferably in multidisciplinary environments.
- Ability to work in a construction site environment.
- Proven experience coordinating with external contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to technical analysis and system requirements management.
- Effective communication and customer service abilities, with experience in technical presentations, project planning, and reporting.
- A commitment to continuing professional development and staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Any additional certifications or registrations that are industry-recognized would be advantageous.
