A Dialysis Technician operates and maintains equipment used in the treatment of patients with kidney disease or kidney failure. They assist with dialysis treatments, monitor patient responses, and ensure the safety and comfort of patients during procedures. Dialysis Technicians also record vital signs, collect and test blood samples, and provide information and support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare dialysis machines and solutions for patient treatments.
2. Assist with the set-up and initiation of hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis procedures.
3. Monitor patients' vital signs and response to treatment during dialysis procedures.
4. Collect blood samples for laboratory testing.
5. Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and progress.
6. Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures and self-care.
7. Clean and disinfect dialysis equipment and treatment areas.
8. Follow infection control and safety protocols.

Minimum Requirements

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of an approved Dialysis Technician training program.
3. Certification as a Dialysis Technician (required in some states).
4. Knowledge of dialysis procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.
5. Strong communication and patient care skills.
