A multinational corporation in the transportation sector is seeking an experienced legal counsel in Batu Gajah, Malaysia. The role involves providing expert legal advice, drafting and negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with local laws. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Law and have 5-10 years of relevant experience in commercial law. Strong negotiation and analytical skills are essential. Provide expert legal advice to management on commercial, corporate, and operational matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, MOUs, and other legal documents to protect company interests.
Advise on intellectual property, employment law, regulatory matters, and other relevant legal issues.
Keep management updated on changes in laws and regulations impacting the business.
Liaison person with External Legal Advisor for all legal related matters.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal compliance programs and policies.
Monitor and ensure compliance with local laws, regulatory requirements, and internal company policies.
Conduct compliance audits and risk assessments, and recommend corrective actions.
Coordinate with regulatory authorities and external legal advisors as required.
Oversee the contract lifecycle management process, including review, approval, execution, and record-keeping.
Advise business teams on contractual risks, obligations, and mitigation strategies.
Establish standard contract templates and streamline processes for efficiency.
Identify, assess, and mitigate potential legal and regulatory risks for the organization.
Provide guidance on corporate governance matters, board resolutions, and statutory compliance.
Liaise with external counsel for litigation, arbitration, or dispute resolution matters.
Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB); Master’s or professional qualification or equivalent.
Admitted to the Malaysian Bar or equivalent jurisdiction.
Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience in commercial law, corporate law, or compliance.
Strong knowledge of corporate governance, regulatory requirements, and commercial contract law.
Proven experience in advising senior management and handling complex contracts.
Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Must familiar with Malaysia Law and China Law.
