Financial Director

We are seeking a strategic Financial Director to join a niche, family-owned importbusiness. This pivotal role involves spearheading the company's financial strategy and driving its development as a key member of the senior leadership team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management within an SME environment, preferably with experience in the import/export sector.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Design and implement a robust financial control framework in collaboration with the company's advisors.
• Lead monthly management and KPI reporting to ensure transparency and inform strategic decisions.
• Oversee the audit process alongside the Financial Controller and manage the preparation of statutory accounts.
• Focus on optimizing cash management and enhancing cashflow forecasting to support business operations.
• Drive the improvement and implementation of new financial IT systems to increase efficiency.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a small finance team, fostering a culture of professional growth and excellence.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven track record as a Financial Director or in a similar role, ideally within an owner-managed or SME business with a turnover of approximately £20 million.
• Experience in the import/export sector is highly advantageous, providing a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in this field.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team.
• Excellent strategic planning and financial management skills.
