The headquarters of the AXA Group (GIE AXA) brings together our corporate activities. It provides guidance and support to subsidiaries around the world, to ensure the coordination and monitoring of the Group's global strategy, the application of its standards, the consistency of commercial approaches and the sharing of best practices. The headquarters gathers approximately 1000 employees and is distinguished by its strong international culture (45 nationalities), which makes it a rich and stimulating place to work.
Within the Group, you will join the Group Operational Risk Management department. Collaborators in this department have to define and lead the appropriate framework to ensure Operational Risks are contained within strategic risk appetite and that expectations are set at the adequate level to preserve client’s interest, meet expectations of regulators, and protect long-term sustainability.
You will be part of a team of circa 100 FTE across the whole AXA group. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead and Coordinate Operational Risk Management Activities: Animate and coordinate operational risk network, ensure harmonization of practices and implementation of Group guidelines, promote best practices exchange.
- Contribute to Capital Optimization and Risk Monitoring: Ensure the qualitative and quantitative assessment of the major operational risk amongst the AXA entities and compute the Group Operational risk STEC quantification. Optimize the capital charge within the AXA Group and monitor the implementation of actions plans against the main operational risks.
- Drive Local and Global Coordination: Be a privileged contact point with the local Operational Risks Managers, define methodological principles, and ensure consistency of local practices with Group requirements.
Your job and daily missions:
JOB PURPOSE: The Operational Risk Manager is acting as a safeguard of AXA capabilities to serve our customers ensuring that main Operational Risks are appropriately identified, measured, monitored, and mitigated.
DIMENSION:
- Support the Operational Risk Management framework across the Group
- Ensure the accuracy of the Operational Risk Internal Model application over #10 entities
CONTEXT AND MAJOR CHALLENGES:
- Ensure operational risk decisions are made consistently across the organization
- Understanding of Risk and Controls Frameworks and business processes
- Necessity to influence preferred outcomes across all business areas of the Company and spread risk culture
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Methodology:
- Define and spread the Group’s qualitative and quantitative Operational Risk principles and requirements.
- Support and challenge the operational risk scenarios identified and assessed by the AXA Entities on both quantitative and qualitative aspects.
- Challenge, share and follow-up the action plans on major operational risks in close coordination with the relevant Professional Family.
- Internal Model Validation / Production:
- Ensure entities are in line with internal operational risk modelling approach and contribute to the related justification vis à vis regulators.
- Participate in the annual Group Operational risk capital charge consolidation.
- Participate in the evolution and maintenance of Group Operational Risk Software.
- Apply validation policy requirements at Group level and ensure entities are in line with local requirements.
- Prepare reports on the Group entities’ operational risk profile to the Group Executive Management, the regulator and rating agencies.
- Local Coordination:
- Privileged contact point with the Local Operational Risks Managers of #10 entities.
- Define methodological principles with regards to identification, measurement and reduction of operational risk.
- Ensure the roll out of these methodologies within the Operational risk community.
- Follow-up on action plans.
- Ensure that local specificities are well reflected in the local operational risk profile.
- Ensure consistency of local practices with Group requirements.
Let’s talk about you:
MAIN COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCES:
- Relevant Experience: 5 years, ideally in risk management in insurance or bank industry.
- Knowledge of internal and external requirements (regulators, rating agencies) with regards to the risk management and assessment within the frame of Solvency II.
- Understanding of insurance, financial, and operational risk management and mitigation controls; risk transfer methodologies; corporate governance, regulatory controls and compliance.
- Ability to manage local and international correspondent’s network with enthusiasm and commitment.
- Strong communications skills to liaise with a wide range of correspondents at various levels of management.
- Rigor and reliability especially in the production and validation of Group Operational risk capital charge.
- Ability to work well under pressure while completing timely, executive level deliverables.
- Ability to maintain an active awareness of operational risk industry best practices and regulatory developments.
