Functions: teaching, research, community service, academic administration

• The ideal candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree in any of the following areas:

• Translation Studies (with a focus on French-to-English translation);
• English Linguistics (emphasizing French-to-English translation);
• English studies (with a specialization in French-to-English translation);
• A related discipline.

• ABD candidates (with a thesis submission deadline) will be considered.

• The ideal candidate must meet one of the two following criteria:
  
  
  • University-level teaching experience in theoretical and applied aspects of linguistics and/or translation, French-to-English translation, or English writing;
  • Professional experience in French-to-English translation.

Candidates meeting the following criteria will be at an advantage:

• A strong research background in translation studies, particularly French-to-English translation or English writing;
• Familiarity with online teaching, language technologies and digital learning tools;
• Demonstrated experience in community service, leadership, or academic outreach;
• An advanced knowledge of the French language.

Others:

• Membership in a recognized professional association, such as the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ), or equivalent, will be advantageous;
• The selection committee invites you to submit a research proposal and, optionally, teaching evaluations and letters of recommendation.

Notes:

• Sufficient knowledge of the French language or determined to learn it once in position. UQTR offers support for learning the French language;
