As the Wastewater Regulatory Scientist (Flow and Level), you will support the Enforcement and Flow Compliance team to manage our regulatory flow and level data.
This role will see you work alongside a team of analysts who fulfil regulatory reporting and ensure that MCERTS certification requirements and compliance with environmental permits are maintained.
What you'll do
In this important and varied role, your day-to-day duties will be:
- analysing and processing compliance data, including the maintenance of corporate datasets
- supporting the team to manage live storm overflow spill reporting
- planning and the day-to-day management of the MCERTS certification programme, including booking inspection visits and liaison with the field team to ensure sites are ready for inspection
- using your knowledge of wastewater flow and level monitoring to provide advice on MCERTS and permit requirements to the business
- answering data requests, from both internal and external sources
- reporting on and communicating flow and level compliance to operational teams.
What you'll needWe are looking for someone who is self-motivated, capable of working both independently and as part of the team and has excellent timekeeping to ensure that team priorities and regulatory deadlines are met.
To be successful in this role you will be confident working with large datasets, have strong data processing skills and a good attention to detail which are essential for maintaining and reporting accurate data.
Strong communication is key, as you will be required to effectively and clearly communicate technical information within the team, to the wider business and to regulators.
We are also looking for:
- a degree level qualification within STEM or related a subject, or have a minimum of two years of experience in the water industry
- good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel
- experience using GIS software and operational systems such as ScopeX/Prism (beneficial but not essential as relevant training and support will be given)
- familiarity with the MCERTS certification scheme and Environmental Permitting Regulations
- good knowledge of wastewater activities and knowledge of flow and level monitoring (desirable but not essential)
- experience working in a regulated industry
- a full clean UK driving licence.
