Under the direction of the Academic Clinician, Nursing Research Lead, the Academic Clinical Educator (ACE) will work collaboratively with invested parties to support, plan and coordinate research and quality improvement opportunities as it relates to clinical education, front-line clinical initiatives and knowledge translation. In addition, they will help support and lead the creation, delivery, evaluation, and maintenance of formal education curricula (syllabus creation, liaising with clinical experts and academic partners to support content development). The ACE will collaborate with faculty and clinical staff to promote a comprehensive and cohesive educational experience. This role will maintain clinical responsibilities in line with the clinical scope of a Nurse Practitioner. The Nurse Practitioner will provide quality care utilizing the full advanced scope of practice as outlined by hospital policies and procedures and the College of Nurses of Ontario Professional and Practice Standards.
This role will provide direct clinical education services to support clinical staff to acquire and maintain nursing/clinical core competencies, knowledge and skills reflective of the most current evidence-based care for individuals admitted to specialized hospital services. They will support coverage for co-workers and staff when required.
Education And Experience- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse, Extended Class with a Nurse Practitioner Specialty Certificate with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- 2 years of recent related experience in an acute or subacute healthcare setting
- Current CPR certificate
- Experience in the care of older adults
Position Duties & Responsibilities- Identifies clinical education needs and opportunities for collaboration and shared learning across clinical disciplines with a focus on nursing.
- Designs, implements, evaluates and adapts formal educational curricula for nursing staff reflective of the practice environment and evolving healthcare system.
- Works in collaboration with the Academic Clinician, Nursing Research Lead and Clinical Educator Team to advance professional nursing competencies based on the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and best practice standards.
- In collaboration with the Academic Clinician, Nursing Research Lead, Advanced Practice Nurses and Clinical Educators, develops and delivers evidence-based education material and ensures knowledge/practice transition into education plans.
- Works to full scope of practice as a nurse practitioner within the auspices of the Hospital’s Act, and relevant hospital policies and procedures of Providence Care.
