The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) student society, working to improve the academic, social, and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.
Position Title: 2nd Cook
Department: Food & Beverage
Employee Status: Full time, Permanent, Hourly
Hours per Week: up to 37.5 Compensation: $20.50 per hour, plus gratuities & benefits (health and dental plan after 3 months)
Position Overview:
The 2nd Cook is responsible for the day-to-day kitchen operation, including but not limited to preparing and executing menus according to AMS recipes. The 2nd Cook will provide the highest quality and presentation of the food, helping to ensure a safe and healthy work environment by following AMS Health & Safety. They are a leader by example, ensuring that the team members adhere to AMS standards at all times.
